The Fifth Element

5ive will make you get down...

Rangers earned another hard fought point at Ibrox on Saturday- it leaves them well placed to grab a much coveted top six place in the SPL. Manager Alex McLeish (left) said after the game, 'Those critics who said we were in freefall- they're not laughing now.'

Falkirk manager John Hughes (right) said, 'Ha ha ha ha ha- I thought when we gave them a two goal lead (through an own goal and a dodgy penalty) they would at least be able to hang on to that, but they blew it with only twenty two minutes to go. Ha ha ha ha ha ha- I just think it's really funny.' Then he started singing this little song.

This result leaves Rangers a heady fifth in the SPL, and extends their unbeaten run to one game in a row. See the action here...

They are in big big trouble lads. With their next two games being away to Kilmarnock and home to Hearts, 6th and possibly 7th is the likely outcome. If Bloomin' Eck's successor(or failor!) fails to hit the ground running and inherits the transfer dealing skills of Wee Dick in the January window, the bottom half is where they will stay.

Will I be supporting Rangers when they entertain Hearts on the 17th? I think you know the answer to that, although I'll see how I feel on the day.
Ask yourself this question though:

Which would you choose

(a) celtic to win the league
(b) rangers to be relegated

Although (b) is completely unlikely, the question reminds me that I would be supporting the Murderers 11 should they ever visit our friends from Govan.

Hearts are gone- they'll pick up seven or eight points out of twelve from now on. Hearts victory over Rangers everytime.

TJ- here's the scenario- last day of the season, Rangers need to win to avoid relegation, Celtic need Hearts to get beat to give them a chance of winning the league- Rangers v Hearts at Ibrox...

(Ok, ok, it can't happen because of top six set up etc, but imagine!)

2nd place for us it is then.
We don't need automatic qualification for the CL. Just look at this season - well maybe not. However I would love, love it to see them in Division 1. Bet you the rules would be changed though.

And The Eckmeister is staying. Now I'm scared. They can still win the SPL, Scottish Cup and Champions League.
